Sligo Rovers are still hanging in there as the battle for survival continues into the final 2 games, after coming from a goal down to Shamrock Rovers to grab a point at Tallaght Stadium on Friday night.
It took a superb free-kick 14 minutes from time from midfielder Regan Donelon to rescue a point for Gerard Lyttle’s men.
Lyttle was understandably delighted to come away with something, “Yes, we showed unbelievable attitude in second half. We just couldn’t get to grips of the first half in terms of how Shamrock Rovers played.”
He said the better second half performance was down to a change they made at half-time, “We made a tactical change at half-time and it worked well for us. Regan’s goal was excellent, he won’t score many better in his career and a important one also.”
“We looked like the team that was going to go on and win the game but, all in all a draw was a fair result and a important one at that.”
Lyttle knows his side are in a dog-fight but says they’re ready for that fight, “Our boys have hit good form at a crucial part of the season. We will re-focus now and plan and prepare for the Derry game which I expect there will be big support on the night from our fans.”
