Sligo Rovers will face the winners of the last Under 19 quarter-final between Bohemians and Limerick after they came through their quarter-final with a 1-0 win over Cork City at the Showgrounds.
The only goal of the game came in the 12th minute of the game when after some brilliant play by Martin Walsh (pictured) as he let fly from just outside the area to beat Cork goalkeeper Ian Giltinan.
Sligo’s manager Brian Dorrian was glad to get through the game and move into the semi-finals, “Delighted to get over the line against Cork. The game started well for us and we got the lead after just 12 minutes when Martin Walsh beat two players and shot home from 18 yards out, as their keeper spills the shot over the line and the goal was awarded.”
“Cork played very well and had some good spells in the game. I thought we defended really well through out.”
“In the last 10 minutes Cork threw everything at us, as we expected, but thankfully we held on.”
Unfortunately a Cork City player got injured during the game, and Dorrian wanted to send their best wishes, “We’re all hoping that the Cork player who suffered a bad injury makes a full recovery. It was the only sour note in the game.”
