Shelbourne manager Owen Heary looks to have pulled off a bit of a master-stroke after persuading ex-Longford Town goalscoring legend David O’sullivan to sign for the club for the 2018 season.
Heary moved very quick, following O’Sullivan’s departure from the midlanders on Wednesday, to snap up the strikers signature.
O’Sullivan signed for 'de Town' from Wayside Celtic in 2013, and has been the clubs top goal scorer in each of those seasons, with 21 goals in the 2014 season on the way to winning the First Division.
Last season (2017), he made fifteen appearances and finished the season with nine goals.
We spoke to David about the move. He said, “It was a big decision to leave Longford but I feel that the time is right to make the move.”
He continued, “I'm really looking forward to the fresh start and proving myself at Shelbourne. It’s a massive club with lots of potential. I cant wait to get going and meet the staff, players and the fans.”
“Hopefully I can hit the ground running and make an impact in helping the club achieve this seasons goal, which is to get back into the Premier Division.”
His signing has brought to fifteen the number of players signed ahead of the 2018 season, Davy joining James English, Jamie Doyle, Adam Evans, Dylan Kavanagh, Gavin Boyne, Dylan Grimes, James O'Brien, Mark Hughes, Aidan Collins, James Brown, Derek Prendergast, Alan Byrne, Lee Steacy and Dean Delany.
