Reusch to sponsor ‘Goalkeeper of the Month’ award

Reusch Ireland have linked up with @league_ireland a hugely successful Twitter account bringing League of Ireland news to the fans, in a sponsorship deal for the forthcoming season.

Reusch will be sponsoring a pair of their Prisma Prime S1 Roll Finger goalkeeping gloves to the ‘Goalkeeper of the Month’ in the SSE Airtricity U-19 League. The league runs from March to November.

The Rep for Reusch in Ireland is Liam Swift. Liam was coaching GAA goalkeepers 6-7 years ago and they were having trouble getting glove sponsorship. He spoke to Reusch about it and from there it ended up with him becoming the Rep for Reusch in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, looking after both GAA and football goalkeepers.

Liam has been coaching goalkeepers for almost 9 years, predominately in the GAA with Tyrone GAA, and was recently involved with Moy GAA Club who claimed the Intermediate Title at Croke Park with a 1-10 to 0-07 win over Roscommon champions Michael Glaveys. He was previously involved with both Dublin and Monaghan ladies.

He explained to us the type of gloves that Reusch will be sponsoring, “The gloves that we'll be sponsoring are the Reusch Prisma Prime S1 Roll Finger. The S1 palm is one of Reusch's softest palms and it delivers top results in terms of grip and cushioning.”

Reusch do already have a presence in the League of Ireland, as Liam explains, “We've been sponsoring top goalkeepers in the league for the past 4 years. This year we have Brendan Clarke (Limerick FC) Gary Rogers (Dundalk), Niall Corbet (Waterford Fc), Paul Skinner (Drogheda United), Colin McCabe (Bohemians), and Paul Hunt (Cobh Ramblers). The level of goalkeeping in the League Of Ireland is excellent. It’s also getting plenty of exposure on TV, which is good for us too.”

He’s very happy to get involved with @league_ireland as he feels that goalkeepers are very much under appreciated, “Basically we feel that goalkeepers get neglected when it comes to awards. Not many people understand what keepers go through in games. There's so much more to goalkeeping than making saves and we at Reusch wanted to recognise the talent that's in the under 19 league in Ireland. And obviously what better place to do it than with you guys who give incredible coverage to the League of Ireland at all levels, from under 15’s through to the Premier Division. It’s also a great opportunity for us to raise awareness for the brand in the league.”

Founder of @league_ireland Gerard Mulreaney said, “We are delighted to have Reusch Ireland on-board as a sponsor for the 2018 season. Since we began in 2016 we have grown our fan base substantially, adding InstagramFacebook  Snapchat and also launched our website www.theleagueofireland.blogspot.ie During that time we’ve had over a quarter of million views on the website, which is phenomenal when you think about it. Last season we actually sponsored seven players at seven different clubs, it just shows our commitment to the league.”

“We’d like to thank Liam, and all involved with Reusch, for joining us this season and we hope it’s a long and successful partnership.”
