Shelbourne re-sign 4 including striker English

First Division side Shelbourne have begun the process of signing up players for the 2018 season with the news that veteran goalkeeper, and the Supporters Player of the Year Dean Delaney, has agreed terms and signed on for next season.

Also signed up for 2018 are centre-back Alan Byrne, defender Derek Prendergast and top scorer this season with 8 league goals, James English.

Delaney was an ever-present for Owen Heary‘s side, while the others only missed a handful of games between them as they finished in fifth place, 19 points off the Champions Waterford.

Striker James English 25, has signed on for his fourth season at the club and he’s delighted to be back at the club in 2018.

English said, “I decided to sign back because I think the club under Owen will only get better and better. He’s a great manger who tells you as it is and I like that, some people might not but it's a good way to be I think.”

“I’ve been with the club for 3 years now and it's  a club I like being part off and hopefully in the season coming up we can have a good go at the league. There’s a lot of good players at the club which makes it easy to sign back because you can see that the club is going in the right direction.”

“It’s great to have the other 3 lads back with the club. It’s massive for the club as they’re 3 good players who want to win at all costs. Having Dean (Delaney) in the nets is just great, as he's best keeper in the 1st divsion by far in my opinion. The club are showing that they want to get the team sorted for the new season and signing the lads back already makes it easier in the long run.”
