Irish Internationals heading to Cobh for a friendly



Hot on the heels of the recent announcement of a friendly with Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, Cobh Ramblers purled of another fantastic coup today when they released details of friendly with everyone’s favourite English Championship side, Preston North End. 


With five Irish lads in the Preston squad, Daryl Horgan, Alan Browne, Seani Maguire, new signing Graham Burke and 17 year-old Adam O’Reilly local fans will get a great opportunity to see them up close and personal in the quaint surroundings of St Colman’s Park. 


Speaking on the announcement, Cobh Ramblers Football Club Chairman Michael O'Donovan said, "We're delighted to host Preston North End, a club with strong League of Ireland Connections.


"And of couse it gives the wider Cork football community a chance to see Seani Maguire back on Leeside!"


Ramblers senior team manager Stephen Henderson said "We are very pleased to host Preston North End in a friendly at St Colman's Park.


"The interest in the game should be huge, as it brings Seani back to Cork, along with a number of other League of Ireland players who have made a big impact at this hugely respected Championship club.


"It could also be the case that their latest Irish addition Graham Burke could make his debut for North End at St Colman's Park!”


"My brother Wayne has always said that he enjoyed his football most when at Preston, so from a personal perspective I'm looking forward to what should be a very enjoyable game against a team that looked after my brother so well, and a team that will be challenging for promotion next season". 


The game against Alex Neil’s side will take place at St Colman's Park on Tuesday the 17th of July, with a 7pm kick off.
