Keeley looking forward to a promotion challenge

19 year-old centre-back Conor Keeley has re-signed with progressive First Division side Cabinteely for the 2018 season as he continues his own footballing progression.

Having come up through he ranks at Shelbourne, Keeley really made his mark in 2017, as he featured in all 27 League fixtures under Pat Devlin.

Keeley spoke to us about staying with the club for another year. He said, “I'm delighted to re-sign for the club. Even before the end of last season I knew I wanted to stay. The club made we feel very welcome in my first year and the players and staff are brilliant.”

He’s hoping that next season could bring huge success to the club, and says the aim is promotion, “For next season promotion is obviously a big goal for us and definitely something we can achieve.”

On the season just gone he said, “Last season I thought we under-achieved a little bit. We definitely should've finished higher up in the league, and getting knocked out early in the cup was obviously a massive disappointment.”

“However from a personal point of view, it was a good season as I was playing regular football week in week out and gaining more experience playing in the League of Ireland. No doubt this season the team can achieve a lot and I'm really looking forward to it.”
