Bohemians Under 19’s will host Sligo Rovers in the League semi-finals this coming weekend after coming from a goal down to beat Limerick FC 2-1 at Dalymount Park last night.
Adam Foley gave Limerick the lead on 10 minutes before a stunning strike from Danny Grant (pictured above) just moments levelled things up.
Substitute Cian Fay gave Bohs the lead late on and they held on until the end. Bohemians manager Graham Lawlor was delighted to get through the tie, “The game was very entertaining for the crowd in Dalymount last night. In fairness to Tommy (Barrett) and his Limerick side they came and had a right go.”
“They probably took the lead against the run of play, but were defensively well organised and made it difficult for us at times.”
On their opening goal Lawlor said, “Our equaliser was well worked when Paddy Kirk' s cross from the left was superbly headed home by Danny Grant.”
“After that I felt we could have put the game to bed but for some good goalkeeping by the opposition keeper.”
“It was then all about being patient and in the second half once again Cian Fay (above) comes up trumps and gets the winner.”
“The goal itself involved 3 of the subs, Brandon Kavanagh linked with Yaya Camara who in turn crossed for Fay. I was happy with the lads because you want players coming on and making a positive impact on the game.”
“Our focus now turns to Sligo on Sunday in Dalymount. We will recover properly and make sure we perform to the best we can because this group of players don't want the season to end just yet.”
Limerick manager Barrett knows the best team won on the night, “We got the goal slightly against the run of play after the first bit of composed play from us. Bohs scored an excellent headed goal shortly afterwards.”
“Bohs had the better of the play and we were counter attacking quite well. Both teams created some excellent chances but failed to convert them.”
“I felt Bohemians intensity dropped a bit in the second half and ours upped a bit and both teams failed to create any real clear cut chances.”
“I felt we switched off for their second goal as we were caught from a quick throw when our lads were looking at a second ball on the pitch and never played the whistle which was disappointing from our point of view.”
“Overall I think Bohemians were the better team on the night and wish them well for the rest of the competition. Our lads have done very well this year and 15 of the squad of 20 are underage next year.”
