Supple thrilled as both he and Cornwall agree contract extensions

Bohemians have acted quickly after securing their Premier Division survival by tying up two of their stars for next season.

They announced that both goalkeeper Shane Supple (pictured above) and defender Rob Cornwall have signed new deals to remain at the club.

Goalkeeper Supple 30, is in his second season at Bohemians and has agreed a 2-year contract that will keep him at Dalymount Park until the end of 2019, while Cornwall 23, has signed a new one-year deal to stay at the club until the end of 2018.

We caught up with goalkeeper Supple and got his reaction after signing his new deal,

“I'm delighted to sign a new deal, the club means a lot to me and I think if we get in a couple of players to strengthen the squad as well as holding onto the core of the squad, and with our U-19's and U-17's doing so well and potentially producing players for the first team we may be able to build on this season and look up the table in 2018.”

While Premier Division survival was achieved over the last few weeks of the season, it wasn’t a case of Bohs struggling and Supple agrees, “There was a period this year where it was difficult with us not being able to put a recognised striker on the field for 8/9 games but we have a good group, and strong characters that got us through this season and into a position that we weren't looking over our shoulders too much in the final third of the season.”

Everyone knows that Supple fell out of love with the game during his time in England with Ipswich Town, but he’s found that love again with this Bohemians side and he’s thrilled to be staying around, “I have really enjoyed my time at the club working with Keith and Trevor as well as the other staff at the club. There are some really good people around the club that play a huge part in adding to the atmosphere and culture around the place and that was a massive reason why I wanted to sign a new deal with Bohs.”
