Bray and St Pats set to go head-to-head for a place in the league final

Bray Wanderers/St Joseph’s Boys will head to Richmond Park tomorrow to take on St Patrick’s Athletic in the semi-final of the Under 17 league.

They are both quality sides. St Pats are unbeaten this season, their only blip being a 2-2 draw against Dundalk, while Bray have only lost once, to a late goal in a 3-2 defeat to Shamrock Rovers.

Bray/Joey’s manager Bernard Byrne is looking forward to the game, and he feels that it will be a hugely entertaining game, but it could be a tough one to predict. He told us, “We are really looking forward to the game. We know it will be very tough for us but it will be very tough for them also and I think they know that too.”

He says that both sides know each other really well, “There is a big respect there between both teams and all the players know each other from playing against each other over the years and also playing with each other in DDSL and Ireland squads.”

“There is great quality in both squads and I'm sure the people that come on Sunday won't be disappointed that they made the effort.”

“Both teams are in good form and are both unbeaten now for a while so I expect it will be a tight game.”

“We have a couple of players that we need to have a look at between now and kick off but I expect to have 99% of our players available.”

As for who will start the game to tomorrow Byrne said it won’t be easy, “Picking the team won't be easy for us as we can make a case for all players to start, but we know we will need the full squad at some stage in the game if we are to win.”

“Players that came off the bench last week made a big impact for us when we needed it so we know we can change a game if things are going against us.”

“These are the type of games you want young players to be playing as part of their development, the best against the best, and it could be a classic.”
