Morrissey looking forward to the challenge at Limerick

Striker Danny Morrissey joined Limerick over the weekend as manager Neil McDonald continued to add players to his squad ahead of his first full season in charge at the Markets Field.

Morrissey 21, spent 7 seasons at Turners Cross gaining promotion to the Premier Division in 2011. However, he felt he needed to move away to get more first-team opportunities. He joined Finn Harps at the start of the 2017 season, and made 21 appearances and scoring 5 times in what was a season of struggles, which unfortunately ended with the club being relegated to the First Division.

Now he’s become part of McDonald’s side who are hoping to mount a challenge for at least a European spot in 2018, and he’s thrilled to be part of it saying, “I’m delighted to have signed after speaking with Neil. I’m really looking forward to the season ahead as I think it’s a club going in the right direction and hopefully we can do well this season.”

“As for me personally, I need to get back to scoring goals and staying fit.”

Speaking about his year at Finn Harps Morrissey said, “I really enjoyed my time very much the last year with Harps. It was tough and we just fell short in the end, but the job Ollie has done over the years has been exceptional and hopefully we’ll see them back up in the Premier Division next season, and I wish them well.”
