Devers excited for the new season as he joins Finn Harps for a promotion push

Striker Jesse Devers has signed a contract with Finn Harps for the SSE Airtricity League First Division 2018 season.

The former Wolves academy player spent last season between Galway United and Mayo Junior league side Manulla and is the latest addition to Ollie Horgan’s side as he continues to assemble a squad he hopes will be capable of challenging for promotion this season.

The 20-year-old striker is delighted to have signed so early into pre-season and is confident that the overall squad is shaping up strong as they aim for promotion this season and regular first team football for himself.

Devers told us, “The First Division is going to be very competitive this season and our ambition is to try and get back up and I can’t wait to get started.”

“Ollie gave me a call and we had a chat on the phone. I was very interested in signing after seeing the squad he has built for the season ahead. It is very strong and overall we have made some great signings.”

“I don’t think I did get a chance to be fair but that’s football I have put a lot of thought into my next move and feel Finn harps is the best move for me at this stage in my career”, the Mayo native said about his time with Galway United.

Devers has been on Ollie Horgan’s radar for a while now, and the Harps boss has finally got his man. He is hopeful that the young striker will use the experience he has already acquired at such a young age to make the most of this new opportunity.

Speaking to the clubs website Horgan said, “We have been interested in signing Jesse for a while and it’s good now to have the deal finalized with pre-season training starting. He’s a young lad who has a quite an amount of experience already.”

“Jessie will be a good asset to us here at Harps. He’s a talented attacker so this is a great opportunity for him to progress his football career.”
