Sligo Rovers head to Tallaght Stadium on Friday night looking for a change of fortune following a poor start to the season. Sitting precariously in ninth place in the table, with just Bray Wanderers below them, Gerard Lyttle’s side need to start picking up points.
The bitored struggled to beat the aforementioned Bray Wanderers two weeks ago, before a creditable 2-2 draw with Bohemians. Last weekend they faced a Dundalk side who haven’t conceded a goal all season, and lost 2-0.
He’s thinking positively ahead of what is a big task in Tallaght, "It's a mental thing for the mistakes we are making. This is a really good group, the lads are working hard and training well. We're looking forward to going to Tallaght. I think they were very unlucky against Waterford and they are a top team.”
One good thing going for him is that he has a full squad to choose from, with no injuries or suspensions heading into the game. "We've done our homework on them. We know it'll be difficult but in our team we have pace, we have goalscorers, we'll create chances. I think the big pitch, and a good one, will suit us. We have to improve on our concentration levels and take the goal-scoring opportunities that we make. I believe we can do so and come away with a result."
If Sligo come away from the capital with something it will be something to build on, however defeat will heap pressure on the former Cliftonville boss less than a year since he took over from Dave Robertson.
