Down numbers but Derry looking for victory against St Pats

Derry City will look to try and get back to winning ways tomorrow night as they head to the capital to take on a resurgent St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park.

Unfortunately City boss Kenny Shiels could be without some key players due to the extremely heavy fixture schedule affecting most Premier Division clubs this season.

Stars such as Conor McDermott, Nicky Low and Ronan Curtis all sat out today's training session, and Shiels will have to wait until close to kick-off before knowing what players he’ll be able to select.

"We will be understrength tomorrow night, there's not much doubt about that" he said.

With St Pats on a 3-game winning streak, with wins over Shamrock Rovers, Limerick and Sligo, Shiels is aware that another win over his side will see Liam Buckley’s men overtake them in the table.

"Some of the lads have featured heavily during our recent schedule and it takes its toll. We'll look at things once we get to Dublin but at this stage I'm resigned to being without a couple of regular starters."

Derry are winless in their last 3 league matches, and need to start picking up points or else they’ll find themselves quickly cut off from the top four.
