Munster Derby cracker in store at the Markets Field

The Markets Field will host what looks a very intriguing Munster Derby on Monday night as the Champions Cork City come to town.

After their 6-star performance against Waterford on Friday night Tommy Barrett’s side will be full of confidence. The games between the sides this season have been extremely close, with a 1-1 draw at the Markets Field followed by a 2-1 win for Cork in Turners Cross.

City boss John Caulfield knows that Limerick will pose his side problems saying, “Limerick have proven a very difficult team for us, we played them a number of weeks ago and Josh got a later winner. We also played them earlier in the season and got a 1-1 draw and we were beaten up there last season so our last two visit to Market’s Field haven’t been good.”

Cork could jump above Dundalk at the top of the table with a win. Both Conor McCormack and Gearóid Morrissey are doubts for the game in Limerick but Caulfield is cautious, “We know after the win they had the other night we are going to have to be on our game from the start. Tommy Barrett has a team fighting for him and their results have shown that. If we are any bit slack we won’t win the game”

“Limerick are very dangerous on the counter attack, Mark O’Sullivan is back in the team and we know how dangerous he is as well as Shane Duggan. We know they have a lot of quality in their team. We need to ensure, like the other night, that we start well. Generally if we go ahead we tend to win games,” concluded Caulfield.
