FAI Cup winning manager Kelleher joins Cobh Ramblers

After a week of turmoil at the club recently, when first-team manager Stephen Henderson appeared on the verge of quitting, Cobh Ramblers today announced that 2017 Women’s FAI Cup winning manager Frank Kelleher would be joining the club as their new Academy Manager.

Kelleher left his post at Cork City at the beginning of May, and while the announcement was made official today, Ramblers boss Henderson did tell the lads Kieran Burke and Jon Brier on their betweenthestripes LOI Podcast last week.

Frank will oversee the clubs academy set-up and work with the aforementioned senior team manager Stephen Henderson along with the club's underage managers and coaches to continue to help strengthen their academy. Frank has an excellent record in youth football in Cork, helping to establish the Cork Youths League Academy in 2012.

Speaking this morning, Kelleher said, “I'm delighted to be appointed as the Cobh Ramblers Academy Manager. I spoke to Stephen Henderson and we had a discussion about it, and I'm delighted to be on board.

"I'll be managing the academy at under 19, 17, and 15 level, and obviously the under 13s coming in next season.”

"I'll be supporting the managers, and the staff involved with the teams, and very much working with player development throughout the entire academy.”

"Cobh Ramblers have a philosophy of giving young players the chance to play in the League of Ireland. And that's what my job will be - to develop players who are good enough to play in the first team. It's very exciting, and I'm looking forward to it".

Henderson himself said, “To have someone of Frank's talent and ability come in is a huge coup for Cobh Ramblers Football Club. I have no doubt our underage structure will go from strength to strength under his watch, and I'm very much looking forward to working with him".
